A New Baby & Another Birthday

It has been a busy few days around here.  I had my 38 week appointment on Wednesday and our son was born on Thursday afternoon.  All went well and both baby and I are doing great.  I am glad that he was NOT born this past Saturday.  Our last baby turned two years old on Saturday and I wanted so much for each of the children to have their very own birthday.  Thank the Lord for granting that request.

So, the baby was born on Thursday the 11th at 3:14 pm.  He weighed in at a tiny little 7 pounds and 8 ounces and was 19 inches long.  He is beautiful and just perfect.  He is so laid back and is just as sweet as can be.

We came home from the hospital on the 13th ( my 2 year olds birthday) at about 4:30pm.  She is sick and was running a fever and had been waiting so patiently for her birthday party.  It was just a short family birthday and she felt pretty miserable.  A few hours later my hubby ended up taking her to the ER.  She has pneumonia AGAIN and an ear infection.  What a way to celebrate your birthday, huh?  She is starting to feel better.  A lady at church this morning gave her a big batch of helium balloons for her birthday.  I think that was wonderful.  It extended her birthday a bit and she was feeling better and able to enjoy it more.

As you can see it has been a bit crazy around here.

So here are a couple of photos to share with you………………….

First, here is our new son, Nathan Asher.  He’s a handsome one if I do say so myself!!!

Here is one of the birthday girl!

And a shot of them together………

I am abundantly blessed!!

Celebrating My Hubby!

Today is my husband’s birthday.  He is still in Afghanistan but should be home soon.  I miss him dearly.  I am so anxious for him to finally arrive safe and sound here at home in Alaska!  I am so very thankful for him!

I am so very proud of him too!  We found out a week or so ago that he was selected for major and should hopefully be pinning on his new rank sometime around May. He works so hard and gives so much to others!

I love you darling!  Happy birthday!  See you soon!

A Not So Little Preemie

I remember my little preemie girl. She was born 33 weeks gestational age and weighed in at 4 pounds and 8 ounces and 17 1/2 inches long. Her little head would fit in my hubby’s hand with his fingers wrapping around her head. She seemed so small especially compared to her older brother who weighed in over 9 pounds when he was born.

Today, she is far from that tiny little one she once was. She turns 18 years old today. She has been such a blessing to us and God has grown her into a godly young woman and I am so very proud of her!

Happy birthday! We love you!!

Sweet Sixteen

We have another sweet sixteen birthday around our house. Our third child is turning sixteen years old today. She loves to ice skate, run, and play the piano. Her dreams are to one day open her own piano studio. She has grown so much since those days when we sat and cuddled watching Barney videos. I miss those days but not Barney! :o ) Happy birthday girl, we love you!

Fourteen!

Our second son is turning 14 years old today! Fourteen! Where on earth has the time gone? He is much different from when he was loud screaming baby! He is actually pretty quiet now! He is very reserved unless you really know him. For those who have the privilege of knowing him he is goofy and fun to be around.

He loves fencing and is really good at it! He also loves to spend his time outside playing air soft with the neighbors. He is also a figure skater. Here is a photo of him from a previous skating recital. He tends to be the center of attention since he is the only boy still participating at his skating level. I’m gonna have to watch out for all those doting girls he is skating with!

For his birthday we are going to a rock climbing gym for some fun climbing! I think all will have a grand time.

Happy birthday son, we love you!

Blessed with Another Year

So today I am a year older.  I have been so abundantly blessed this past year.  Blessed beyond what I could have asked or imagined.  God is good that way!  I am thankful for all he has given me and blessed me with.  I am thankful for the many birthday wishes I have received today.  I am thankful for my children who bought me a cake and flowers.  I am thankful for the handmade cards.

I am thankful for my husband.  I miss him dearly.  Today is a bit sad though.  Today is the day he finally leaves the states (his training is over) and heads off to that remote location on the front lines in Afghanistan.

I will spend a quiet day at home, that is unless we have more earthquakes like the one I just felt.   We just had a 4.94 magnitude quake originating 15 miles from my house!  Later, I will head to a movie with a friend.  Then there is Awana tonight.

My dear hubby was sweet and gave me my birthday gift before he left.  Knowing how much I love all things Alaska, he bought me two things.  One was a native drum made from a baleen whale and the other a small figurine made of soapstone, ivory, and whale bone.  I thought I would share them with you.
