13 Things That Scream “Go To The Grocery Store!”

Since this applies today I thought that I would repost this old Thursday Thirteen. You may laugh, you may cry, just be assured that I am heading to Costco today! I promise!

Thirteen Things That Scream “Go To The Grocery Store!”
  1. Last payday, 2 weeks ago, you only spent a fourth of your regular grocery budget.
  2. You are rationing toilet paper squares.
  3. Except for the soy sauce and balsamic vinaigrette, and the little mustard packets you swiped from Subway, ALL of your condiments are gone.
  4. You sliced your last 4 cheese sticks to stick in a casserole.
  5. You used cans of evaporated milk to make breakfast.
  6. You run out of the plastic grocery bags you usually save to line the bathroom trash cans.
  7. When asked what’s for dinner, you say, I don’t know, I just threw stuff in there!
  8. Celery is supposed to be rubbery, right?
  9. Children open the refrigerator door and stand there longingly with the look of death by starvation on their faces.
  10. There is water or water or water to drink.
  11. The only thing in your freezer is ice and that old box of baking soda.
  12. Sugar, what is sugar?
  13. When your children ask, “uh mom, when are you going shopping again? I’M STARVING!!!!”

Just Thinking With My Fingers

I would say that I am just thinking out loud  but that phrase doesn’t seem to fit when I am typing.  Today is another one of those days when I have a bunch of random things floating through my mind and I need to get them out!  So here we go, a visit once again to my random thoughts.

  1. I have two different birthday parties for my children to attend this week.
  2. Bear Paw Festival is this weekend and we are planning to make it at least to the parade.
  3. All the boys will be gone on Saturday (the day of the parade) one paint balling and the other two dipnetting.
  4. I need to make a run to the local homeschooling store.
  5. I wish the rest of my curriculum would hurry up and arrive so I can finish my school lesson plans for next year.
  6. Bags of stuff to drop off at the Salvation Army.
  7. I am going to miss my walk today unless I go later in the heat of the day.
  8. I cannot believe how warm it has been here in Alaska!
  9. I wish they would get the wildfires under control, the haze in the air is so yucky!
  10. Back to my walk–it is so frustrating to walk so much and climb mountains and not loose a pound of weight!  I have lost a few inches and I know that is what matters but it is still so very frustrating!
  11. I am also continuing to loose hair, the baby is 7 months old!  I am now thankful that I have had an over abundance of hair, turns out I needed it!
  12. Our baby is now crawling!
  13. The almost three year old is officially potty trained!

Well, that is all the randomness I can afford for now.  That birthday party time is quickly approaching!  I hope you all have a bee-u-ti-ful day!!!!!

T13- Little Bits of Randomness

  1. To start this bits of randomness list I thought I would tell you why I chose this T13 banner. It reminds me of my flannel sheets which I really need to unpack. It is COLD here!
  2. Half of our new carpet has been installed. The rest is to be finished today. It is such an amazing difference new carpet makes to a home!
  3. I really wish that I had not seen the under side of the carpet they ripped out. YUCK!
  4. I really enjoy and am blessed to look at the mountains out my windows every morning!
  5. I didn’t sleep hardly at all last night, I was up sick all night.
  6. Of course, I fell asleep just an hour and a half before I had to get up.
  7. AND of course, the little ones slept all night for a change. But decided to wake up very promptly after I actually fell asleep! Why does it always seem to work out that way?
  8. The children just went to their second week of Awana and it went better than the first. We are blessed to have the program we need at a church only 5 minutes from our house.
  9. The chapel staff spouses through a surprise “diaper shower” for me last week. I will not have to buy diapers for this new baby for at least a month maybe longer!
  10. We have noticed several damaged pieces of furniture from our move and our claim list keeps growing and growing. UGH!
  11. The Lord has blessed us by allowing us to live by a wonderful family. We are a little ways out and only have a few neighbors. One family a few houses down is another large (7 children), Christian, homeschooling family.
  12. This neighbor lady and I went “scouting” yesterday. She showed me where the pedophiles live in the area so I know who they are, what they drive, and what they look like. I have to protect my children.
  13. Topping the list!!! My hubby would just LOVE this one. He almost electrocuted himself yesterday. He clipped an electrical wire not realizing it was still hot. Sparks flew, smoke flew, and well, he kind of did too. *grin* He is okay, not hurt at all. But it sure is fun to tease him about it! Home remodeling, what fun!

  5. Waterfall from the ceiling until piping is finished.
  6. Running cable for internet, cable tv, and telephone.
  7. Another trip to Lowe’s for supplies.

  9. Drywalling.
  10. Installing a doorbell.

Anyone tired yet? Want to come and help?? Whew! I just woke up and am ready to go back to bed!

All About Moose

Being here in Alaska, moose are a big deal. I thought I would share with you some of the things we have learned about moose since arriving here a few months ago. Enjoy!

  1. Moose are so much bigger than you imagined!
  2. Rutting or mating season comes in the fall, and boys impress ladies by pitting antler against antler.
  3. When driving moose are hard to see because of their height and because your lights won’t reflect in their eyes or off their coats.
  4. More people are injured each year by moose than by bears.
  5. If its ears are laid back and hackles are up it is likely to charge.
  6. Aggressive behavior toward humans is more common when cow moose are protecting their young in the summer or during the rutting season.
  7. Never get between a cow and a calf. Don’t walk toward a moose if you can avoid it; try to remain at least 50 feet away.
  8. Never throw snowballs at a moose.
  9. Try to get behind a tree if a moose charges. You can run around the tree better than it can.
  10. Unlike with a bear, it is okay to run from a moose.
  11. Moose kick with their front hoofs as well as their hind hoofs.
  12. At the beginning of rutting season the velvet is shed from the antlers of the bull moose.
  13. The bull moose large antlers have reached their peak for rutting season and will eventually fall off for the winter months ahead.
