Boy or Girl??
Many think it is just an old wives tale but I am convinced. The speed of a baby’s heartbeat can tell you the sex of your baby. It has worked for me every single time. In fact, one time we were told by our doctor that we were having a boy via ultrasound. In my 8th month he told me the heart rate and I said, “I can’t be having a boy!” We discussed this and I swore to him it was not a boy and I would bet money on it. He even took me into the ultrasound room to prove me wrong. Then to his surprise said, “Yep, that is definitely a girl!”
The heart rate has never been wrong for us. The faster the rate a girl, the slower, a boy. Now of course you have to check each month and find the most consistent rate. The heart rate also tends to slow down a bit the further along you are.
I am not completely sure as of yet but I thought I would put the info out there and get your thoughts on it. I have a suspicion though. I just am not convinced enough to say it out loud. I have an ultrasound scheduled in four weeks. We shall see if my suspicion is confirmed or not.
Ok, on to the stats…..
My girls have always been 145-160. My boys 120-130. Last month I was at about 150-155 (do not remember exactly).
I am at 16 1/2 weeks currently. Heart rate today was 140.
So, here are my questions to you…
1. Do YOU trust the whole heart rate thing or still think it is just an old wives tale?
2. Do you think it is too early to make an assumption based on heart rate?
3. Boy or girl? What do you think?

I have 4 children, 2 by birth and 2 by adoption. With my 2 pregnancies I could not rely on the heart rate as an indicator of sex as both of them had slower heart rates (and were both girls). With my first we found out the sex and with the 2nd we chose to be surprised.
Oddly enough what has been 100% accurate for me was the Chinese chart. I even looked up how old I was when my adoptive children were conceived and it was 100% accurate for all 4 of my kids! Even my adopted boys…Crazy huh?

Heart rate has never been a good indicator for me, but sounds like it works for you! “)

This is the first time I’ve ever heard of this. And I have 4 kids. (2 of each!) In Mexico, we have a different old wives’ tale to predict the sex of your baby. Hang your wedding ring on a piece of string. Hold the string and let the ring dangle about 1 to 2 inches above your palm. (Your hand has to be flat.) If the ring swirls in circles, you’re going to have a girl. If it swings back and forth, it’s going to be a boy.

I’ve had six babies and the wives tale has been right six times. I wouldn’t even bother to try to guess a 140′s rate. I’d consider it to go either way.

@Quinn, Yeah, I don’t want to guess on a 140 rate either but am wondering since not very far along yet. Maybe it will continue to slow. If I was a few months further I wouldn’t even consider a guess.

For me, the 100% accuracy was what I craved during pregnancy… if I craved grilled cheese sandwiches (with American Cheese, by the way)- girl. Egg, cheese, and salsa on a bagel… boy.
100% right on, even this last one when they told me he was a girl and came out a boy! So I was 8 for 8 in guessing gender off the craving. Of course, I didn’t know the eggs tasted so good because my first was a boy, but in retrospect I can see the trend.

@petersonclan, WOW, now that is amazing! I never heard of people determining the sex by their cravings! Apparently, it works for you! That is very cool!
