What Day Is It?
Can it really be November already? It seems once again my blog has gone by the wayside. I am continuing to find it difficult to put in the time it takes to maintain a blog. I even missed posting on Reformation Day!
Well, there are several reasons that this blog has suffered in recent days. We are now in our fourth week of illness at our house. It really isn’t anything major but a fever here, an ear infection there, a cough and a sniffle, and as soon as we think we are all better it begins again. I will be thinking differently about a child who says they do not feel well when they only have a 99.5 temp. Those low grade fevers are just enough to make one feel yucky! I can say this because that has been me for the last week. I have been teetering between 99.5 and 100.5, just enough to remove any little bit of motivation to do anything! Prayfully, we are on the mend and hopefully for the long term.
On another note, I have a bunch of great ideas floating around in my head for some blogging fodder. I do not feel like I have the energy or time to make them into a finished post thought. The few I have thought of working……well……let me just say that I am a bit gun shy at this point. There are things I have seen floating around the blog world lately that I would just LOVE to comment on. I am not sure that I am willing to be trusting enough to take the possible backlash! I have been there and done that and I am not sure I am ready to go under fire again. Nevertheless, the thoughts continue to roll through my mind and I may yet take the time to type them up.
There have been other things that are happening. There are things to ponder, trials to live through, others to encourage, homeschool to teach, and the beauty of fall to enjoy. I just need to make a point of posting about those I suppose. I hope you will overlook the fact that I have let the blog suffer some neglect. I will try harder to make it here. Sometimes we just get in a rut and have a hard time climbing out. That seems to be the case with me lately. I will to attempt to do better!
Ok, so if you have stuck with me this far, I have a few discussion questions for you.
- Have you ever found yourself in a blogging rut?
- What did you do to overcome that?
- How much time do you spend a day writing your blog posts?
- What is your most favorite thing about the month of November?

1. I blog way too often. The rut I get into is having something interesting/ edifying to say.
2. To overcome this I am aiming to blog less, pray more, use more wisdom , not feel the need to blog about every little trivial thing.
3. I spend about an hour per week actually typing up blog posts, adding photos and links.
My main time wastage is in that I love to read everyone else’s blogs. I can get caught up in this way too long. Thankfully, there is so much else to do, people are so much more important. This keeps me in check. I don’t blog on the Lord’s Day.
4. I love November because I have two darlings born in this month! One will be 19 and one 12!
Kristine, you shouldn’t worry about posting too often. Like me, most people will have you in their reader. It is exciting when a new post comes up! Your season of life is such a full one, it is far more important to be “doing” it all than just writing about it, don’t you think?
Still, curious and looking forward to reading the “controversial” ideas swirling around in your head.

A few thoughts:
I’m with you – NOVEMBER! I have literally lost 5/6 months of this year. BUT we are now settled in a home with a phone and internet. I’m also going to begin praying that we NEVER have another pcs like this one…and since we probably have one more move left before retirement chances are good this is the PCS that stories will be told about. ::snort::
Blogging – I WAS in a terrible rut until I stopped and prayed about the purpose of my blog. I was trying to be profound…and would still like to have more profound things to say….but family reminded me the blog was a family journal…we invited others to share but never went out to find readers…KWIM? I didn’t start a blog to share my opinions, convince people to my views etc….I started it because our grown children, and friends from other assignments, wished to keep up with our daily lives. SO….now blogging can be as easy as a list of what we’ve done in a day if I’m busy. The pressure is off…when I AM profound folks are pleasantly surprised….::snort:: Seriously, many have shared that simply watching us live out our chosen life style day after day has been encouraging and “profound” in their lives…I don’t understand it…but I try to simply think “family journal”….
Remember, that many use readers these days. A few years ago the “bloggy wisdom” was change things frequently, post daily to keep readership and interest up…but now folks don’t have to go to your URL to see if you’ve posted…if they are interested in your blog, they’ll put it in their reader and whenever you post they’ll do. I have mixed feelings on this….I love the ease of knowing when “my blogs” post without going to them each day…but I think you do lose some of the fun and relaxation of leisurly visiting your favorites…seeing the new “looks” because often I don’t click in after reading unless I want to comment…and often I don’t have time to click in and comment….
Hmmm….wordy this a.m. ::snort:: BTW, yes we ARE loving your friends in Misawa. What a joy to have a team who loves the Lord.
