Carnality Verses Holiness

I have often contended that there is no such thing as a carnal Christian.  A  truly regenerate person is not one who lives carnally.  The church today often makes it acceptable to live carnally and excuses it away as a natural part of the developing Christian life.  This is a sad state of affairs indeed.   There is a GREAT quote I would like you to ponder today.  Here is an excerpt:

there is no such thing as the so-called “carnal Christian.” Rather, he writes, “The apostle denies that anyone actually knows Christ who has not learned to put off the old man, corrupt with deceitful lusts, and to put on Christ.”

Please take a minute and read the whole thing over at the Thirsty Theologian.  It is a very short read!  Please come back here and leave your thoughts!

I believe that as we walk with Christ and be in Christ and Christ in us, that we are walking in the Spirit and carnality will not have it’s way. We make mistakes, but we have grace. Not to abuse grace, but we have that to help hold us up when we falter. A righteous man may fall but he rises up again. I spent far too many years ‘trying’ to be holy, when it hit me that if I keep my eyes on Jesus and walk close to Him, I will live holy. Yet our truest holiness is not by what we ‘try to do’, but rather by simply being in Christ.

Great Truth here. I had a degree in Bible and was a pastor before God showed me the lie of “carnal christianity” and was converted. Just found your site and started following you. Praise the Lord!

    Dan,

Thank you for the follow! I looked at your site and noticed a name I recognized, Elliff. Is he the same one from Grace there in Omaha? If so my hubby knows him. Hubby went to Grace for a while.
