Still Beautiful

The other day we were visiting with some friends at their house.  There was a crash and a scream.  My friends went running and I moved a bit more slowly.  It was my daughter, the one that tends to be more dramatic over little things.  I assumed it was another instance.  When I looked at her though I saw a crimson color to her blonde hair.  Oh boy, we have blood!  I cleaned her up and realized stitches were in order!  YUCK!  My hubby is out of town with the older children and the thought of the emergency room with four children 7 years and younger at the emergency room alone was not something I looked forward to!  My friends and I debated.  It looked borderline.  Maybe a stitch or two.  It however did not look to be very deep and there really was very little blood for a head injury.  We decided to try and butterfly it.  My daughter had so much hair though that the bandages would not hold the cut closed.  Everytime the hair moved so did the bandage.  SOOO,  we pulled out the clippers and shaved a small square patch on her head and bandaged her again.

She seems to be doing well now.  Her color has come back and the pain is minimal.  The butterfly patch has been replaced a few times and the cut looks to be beginning to heal.  I am so thankful that I didn’t have to make a trip to the ER.

My little one made a comment shortly after the accident that I am still processing.  Was it vanity, something that I need to address?  OR Is it that she is contented in who she is??  Either way her comment was cute and a little funny.  I also found it comforting after the entire ordeal.

She was looking at herself in the mirror and said, “I am still beautiful even with a bald spot.”

I agree!

What do you think?

she sounds secure to me! She knows she’s beautiful, but it doesn’t sound like a vain kind of thing.

Yes…still beautiful!!! That positive personality is a result of positive parenting. She realizes that looks doesn’t make someone beautiful, it’s the inside that matters. She could just still see her inside beauty!

My thoughts exactly. No doubt you’ve said similar things to your kids when they’ve seen a distorted or maimed person and she is just reassuring herself.
That’s was a good owie!!! Hope she, and mum, is healing well.
