Gearing Up……
Time is running short. In fact, for some families, the time has already arrived. It is time to gear up for the new school year. Some parents school year round and others are on different schedules than the norm but for those following the fall-spring schedule the time is near. I have been planning and preparing almost all summer long. The anticipation is building as well as dreading the alarm clock. I am not a morning person by any means but we will be needing to get an early start to accomplish what we need to accomplish. I posted a while back about the curriculum and activities we will be participating in and as expected that list has been revamped a bit.
Things are beginning to fall into place and schedules being set. I have my lesson plans for all children for the entire year complete, printed, and placed into their binder. Curriculum has arrived and books distributed. The younger children have begun working on a few things but only when they ask to do so.
Home school for us officially begins on Monday the 17th and my son’s college classes begin the following Monday. Where are you concerning school??? Have you begun? Are you on an alternate schedule? Are you ready to begin? Are you sitting there thinking “Oh no, summer was so great I completely forgot about school!” ?
No matter where you are in the process, may God be glorified in your schooling this year!!

I plan to start on Friday. However, I have not received part of my daughter’s curriculum yet so we may have to put it off a few days.

We are starting up this week. My children really need to get back to some form of routine. We normally school year round but this year has been the worst. I think mostly because the weather was cooler than normal and being outside for fun, play, walks, etc. has been way to hard to resist. We all feel though that the ‘settling’ in time is near.

We normally school year round with July off for me to plan and for us to rest. But this year we are still in break. We are going to start next week. I have the overall plan figured out but I need to fine tune it and get the daily plans figured out.

God bless all of you great home schooling ladies!
Kristine, you sound very organized considering all the great things you’ve done on the break! Of course, our school year runs Feb – Nov, if we follow the state, so we are not holidaying (vacationing) at present. But then, come December we have two months.
I usually try to have things pretty much sorted before school finishes and just order on the holidays so I can totally vege out.

This will be my first year, and I’m starting to get really nervous! I have all the curriculum, but I don’t have everything organized yet. I’ll have my 9 and 7-year old boys to homeschool, and my 4-year old boy and 1 1/2 year old girl at home too! I’m excited because I know God has called me to do this, and what He calls you to do, He equips you to do!

D’oh! I need to mail in my homeschooling stuff to the district…and I haven’t even bought her books yet. My goodness. I already have a book or two for my 5yo, but my poor 7yo has nothing yet LOL. Money has been especially tight this summer >:S
I honestly haven’t even decided what we’re doing for sure yet.
D’oh!!

Sandy- that is one of the wonderful things about homeschooling, you do not have to follow a rigid schedule. You have a new baby and are allowed to take things a bit slower!

Question for you!! What kind of layout or schedule do you use for your clan? Is there anyway you can post an example of what your homeschool schedule looks like? I have the hardest time keeping up with so many children and really need to find some kind of layout that works.
