QF Carnival
When people hear about those who believe the Lord is sovereign over the womb and that it is an area in which we are not to intervene, people often think of very large families. That is not always the case. In fact, there are many who are only blessed with one child or maybe not even any children. Some of these families have followed through with adoption and yet still prayerfully leave their own fertility in the Lord’s hands without intervention.
Here are a few links that deal with this very thing.

Thanks for those links, Kristine.
I really believe that there is, in some circles, almost a competition to have the most children. The couple who says they are trusting God for the number of children they have, and goes on praising Him with none or one have a very difficult road. Some are blessed with many, but alas, sometimes you don’t see a joyful mother of children but a woman with a martyr complex!

I know when some people found out we were leaving our fertility in God’s hands, they expected us to have bundles of children… quickly! Still, we only have three, and we’ve experienced three miscarriages in 4 months. People once called me “fertile Myrtle” and joked that I could get pregnant if my husband just winked at me. Now we’re just praying that God does bless us once again- whether by the womb, or by opening the door to adoption.

Mandy, thank you for sharing. That is one big misconception I believe, it really isn’t about how many and it isn’t an easy road to walk. Even those of us who do have many do not have an easy time at it all the time either.
