Another Day Another Birthday Party
Our birthdays tend to fall very close together in our family. We have a spring season and a fall season with a few others here and there. June and July are a couple of our free months. It seems that everyone else we know has their birthdays during those months! I thought I was going to have a bit of a breather during the early months of summer but that was not to be. In fact, we had two birthday parties to attend this week.
It doesn’t bother me really. It is fun to share in the celebration of those we care about. One party this week was a princess/fairy party. The other is one where the children are going on a mountain hike. There is such a big difference. We have done many different things. After all it is important to make the day special for the children, we are celebrating their life. We have done simple family birthdays with the homemade cake, a song, and gifts. Then finish up with their favorite dinner. We have done elaborate like swimming with the beluga whales. We have had years with little fanfare and years with BIG birthdays. However, I have really failed when it comes to the themes, games, and decorations.
I wonder what you all do to celebrate those lives the Lord has placed into your homes. How do you all celebrate birthdays???

We too have a lot of birthdays. The 14 of us, then add a son in law, daughter in law and 3 young grandchildren. In Dec. and Jan. along we have 7 birthdays in 3 weeks. A tough time to be sure!! But in the beginning the babies came so fast that we knew there would be a time when all we could really do were simple ‘family’ parties. And so it has been, all these years, just our family. But everyone seems to always be perfectly happy and content with that. At times though those birthdays get really large if any cousins are around because my children have on my husbands side36 of them. All young and preteen like most of mine.

In my household, we have a cake (either homemade or bought.) They get a gift or two and we say happy birthday.
For my parents, sister, nephew, etc. they get a card and maybe a picture of the family.
We don’t really care about birthdays that much. There just another day to live to the glory of God.

We have borrowed the idea from the Jeub family for one gigantic birthday party for all the girls. We’ve held each of the three bashes in the summer months, so our activities usually revolve around water. This year we had a 22 ft. water slide. My hubby loves to BBQ, so it gives him an opportunity to do so. Last year we had about 50 people come over for fellowship, food and fun. You can see this years bash at my blog.
Many blessings,
Michelle

I love doing a special party for each of them. We invite whole families over not just the kiddos and try to do a bbq with a theme of some sort. Nothing to involved usually we just let the kids play and maybe do a pinata. I am fortunate that all but one of my munchkins was born in spring/summer. The past two years however, we haven’t been able to do much but are planning on doing a big b-day bash at the end of summer for all of the olders. Little G was born just before Thanksgiving so I haven’t thought about hers yet.
