Another Teenager

We now have four teenage children in our household.  Our second son turned 13 yesterday.  It is hard to believe that he that old.  Where does the time go?  It seems only yesterday that he was my sweet little boy.  He is still my sweet boy just not so little anymore!  He is such a blessing to our home.  He is a fun-loving boy who loves to wield a sword or play with a bow and arrow, yet is quiet and tender-hearted.  We have learned a lot as parents from him too.  He is a tremendous blessing to our home and our hearts.   We love you son!  Happy Birthday!

My Birthday

My birthday was last week.  Thank you to all of you who extended birthday wishes and blessings.  I posted a little about my birthday on facebook but realized that I really didn’t say much here on the blog.  Since I have had some of you asking, here is my birthday post.

Hubby took me out to a great dinner at the Glacier Brew House in Anchorage.  It was soooo delicious!  If you are ever in Anchorage, it is a great place to go!  Hubby bought me a Norwegian sweater from a little shop in downtown Anchorage.  He brought me some carnations and the most beautiful cake!  Chocolate of course!  My eldest daughter also took me shopping and bought me a new outfit.  She is so thoughtful!

The Family Continues to Grow……

I posted the other day about our newest addition to the family, our baby chinchilla, Denali. We love her very much! A few days ago we received a call from a friend who had another chinchilla who needed a home. I could not believe it. We had already bonded with sweet little Denali so there was no returning her! This friend had already moved her chinchilla out of the house into the entryway right by the door and said she was leaving that day. Whereto, who knew! I called my hubby and he said ok. We may not keep this cute little male chinchilla but he will have a home for a while anyway. Who knows, when Denali is big enough, we may breed them and sell a few and at least recoop some of the expense. This new chinchilla didn’t even have a name so we have chosen another Alaskan name.

Mount Up With Wings

Just down the road from my home there is a place where the bald eagles are fed during the winter.  It is a place that my family loves to go.  These are magnificent creatures!  To see them up close, to watch them, to see how majestic and powerful these birds are is so amazing!  I cannot help but think upon the Lord and praise him!  Here are just a few of our hundred photos!  Take some time to meditate upon the scripture below and spend a little time today singing  praises to the creator, sustainer, and Savior.

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.
Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.  Isaiah 40:28-31

Sweetest Friend

 untitled

Thank you so very much!  I am honored and blessed to receive such an award!  A friend of mine @ Creative Counterpart , has nominated me for one of her ‘Sweetest Friend Awards’ . The award originated with Evening Shade Morning Latte.

The award is as follows: “These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find & be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated.”

The rules of the award are as follows: Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to 8 bloggers that then need to choose 8 bloggers of their own to pass the award to. Include the following text depicting the award…“Each of the following ladies, I simply love. They each have faced their own challenges in their lives & the way they encapsulate their experiences endears them greatly to my heart.”

So, I am handing out my 8 awards to the following…

  1. Valerie- she has been there with me through thick and thin in the blogging world and proven herself a dear friend over and over again.
  2. Mindy- a sweet gal that I just met recently and another fellow Alaskan, in fact she lives just down the road.  I will have to meet her in person sometime soon.
  3. Terri Sue- she has always been faithful to give an encouraging word when it seems I need one most.
  4. Daisy- she is a faithful commenter here on my blog and is full of encouraging words and great input on the discussions here.
  5. Ruby- she is another lady who has been full of encouragement and reached out her hand of friendship.
  6. Trish-is a great lady who has extended her hand of friendship to me and I have seen her reach out to many others as well!
  7. De’Etta- is a great friend, not only are we in the same position when it comes to the ministry roll but she brings a bit of crazy and zaney energy to her friendships.
  8. Linda- she has shown herself to be an encourager and one who is always consistent and faithful to participate here on my blog.

These are some amazing ladies that anyone would be honored to call friend.  Take some time to visit their blogs and get to know them.  Ladies, “Thank you for your friendship!”.

A New Family Member

We introduced a new member into the family over the weekend.  We just had to give her an Alaskan name.  Our new addition is named Denali and she is loved by all.  She is just a baby, being only 10 weeks old.  So let me introduce you to the little pet that I have wanted ever since I was a little girl.  She is a beige chinchilla.  Meet Denali……..isn’t she just the cutest thing???
