Who Seeks? Where is the Power?

Here is a little clip with some harsh truth! Who is it that seeks after God? Where does the power lie? Listen to R.C. Sproul’s (my fav!) and Al Mohler’s thoughts on the issue. Then add your thoughts.

HI, Mama Archer. I can’t say that I disagree with their comments, except for the fact that Jer. 29:13-

“And ye shall seek me, and find [me], when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”

-has been a very heart searching verse to my husband and I in our walk with God.
In our sinful state, I don’t believe we really know how much we need God, but it is a desperate heart that touches the heart of God and finds the Saviour.

I do most heartedly agree with the topic about tailoring the church to the sinner. The church was never called to have all these programs in hopes of reaching the lost. It was called to not forsake its assembling together, to encourage the brethren, to preach the word, the blood, the cross, to reprove…etc.

    Sincerely,
    Linda

    Linda,
That is a good verse to bring to recollection. Here is another one to consider:
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”
    John 1:12-13 (KJV)

I am not disagreeing with you that men will seek God, but I am saying that when we do seek God, it is because he has caused us to do so. And, I think that when God leads someone to begin seeking, it will not be the programs that draw them – it will be the true message of repentance unto salvation.

Again, I am not disagreeing with you – I can see that you said these same things. I am just adding to what you said.

Bethany, I think you put my thoughts down better than I could. I believe this is also another good example of grace.

    My favorite statement –

“What we should be most concerned about in our worship is, what is it that pleases God?”

    Amen.
