Um, Yep, That Says It All.
I saw this on Lisa’s blog this week and wanted to share it with my readers here as well. This about sums up my conservative views concerning the direction our government is taking concerning the economic state of the nation.
“You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom.. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.”

Yes, mine too — reward the *BEHAVIOR* of reckless spending, acquisitive consumption, enslaving debt, unproductive laziness, vulture robbery, non-existent savings, and irresponsible victimitis. Makes it pretty discouraging unless I remember “Who” I work for first of all.

Deb-
I completely agree! Remembering “who” we work for and are here to serve is what should keep us going, remembering that God is sovereign over all is the hope that sustains us!

This is so true. It’s a thought with a bad spirit. To want what others have worked for because you are not as well off. Somewhere I heard the statement comparing socialism and capitalism as two farmers look at their harvest. The ones in socialism look at what the others have and wish they wouldn’t do as well, while the ones in capitalism, look, work harder, and aim to do as well as the other.
Capitalism cannot be beat for encouraging you to be all that you can. That is why we became such a great country.
Sincerely,
Linda

The problem with class warfare is that it is always one sided. The rich can’t win trying to make their point because the poor generate sympathy.
It’s all about how we picture people. We picture all poor people like Little Orphan Annie and all rich people like Oliver Warbucks. The truth is that there are loafers on welfare and good people that are making a lot of money, but we choose to use our own views for them.
