No Whistling Allowed

Everyone has their limits, their little quirks, the little things that drive them crazy.  I am no exception.  My brother-in-law has been staying with us for a while until he finds a home of his own and moves his family here.  They have three of their four children living at home now and their house is considerably quieter than ours.  The other day he started laughing at me.  He said he was beginning to think that nothing phased us when IT happened.

He said, “The piano is being played, children are playing and running around, some are having a major discussion, and the baby is a bit fussy.  All of a sudden you stop and say whoever is whistling, stop it!  Amidst all of the noise it was the whistler that got to you!”

So there you have it!  Whistling is one of my weaknesses!  I cannot stand to have a whistler in an enclosed area.  Outside is fine but not in the house or the car.  It drives me crazy!  Go ahead and have a laugh at my expense just don’t whistle to close to me! LOL

So what is your weakness? Your little quirk? Share with me I know I cannot be alone!

Oh yeah, I also don’t like tapping!  So keep that pencil from tapping the table while you think! HaHa

How funny! I too abhor the sound of whistling. Just makes me nuts. Whenever I catch my man at it, I’ll smile and say, “Have I ever told you what I think the most annoying sound in the world is?” And then we both crack up LOL

the thing is, it is different if I am the one whistling. My children will quickly point it out and ask why it is ok for me to whistle and not them. cuz I am the mom! LOL

Whistling only bothers me when it’s a song that’s not being done right… or just plain bad whistling (I have a 9yo that *thinks* he can whistle. LOL). But, what really gets to me is when someone touches my office chair. Seriously. Don’t stand too close, don’t lean on the arm, don’t make it turn even just a little. It just makes me want to crawl right out of my skin! LOL

I simply cannot handle that gulping sound when people drink. Gulp, gulp, gulp. AGHGHGHGH!

I have a thing about noisy eating. Yuck. Oh that and open doors. I cannot stand to have closet doors or cabinet doors left open. ;)

So funny! I have to admit, my weakness and breaking point is when someone is singing softly while others are talking or working quietly. Although I absolutely LOVE music and sing quite a bit myself, the “noise” of someone else doing it amidst the other house noise, drives me bonkers! So, if we ever visit each other, I will be sure to keep the pencils from tapping and the whistling outside IF you can keep the singing down when I’m around… or let me join in!!!

It’s funny, because as I was reading this, my son was tapping the heal of his foot on the couch and it was driving me BATTY! :)

For some reason my 10 year old’s whistling drives me crazy. Like you, I can handle alot of noise but the whistling makes me want to scream. I don’t say anything though; I usually just put a worship song on the computer to drown it out LOL.

Also, when my 7 year old drinks, she makes that gulping sound that Daisy mentioned. Puts me over the edge…

Okay, I don’t know you ladies and I live in Australia so the likelihood of offending is small! I can handle a high noise level but my family is small and I am deaf in one ear!

Foot jiggling!! Foot jiggling is my pet hate! My hubby and all the children do it. Even in bed. They say it soothes them off to sleep! I get so aggitated! We have it all through school, church, car rides, television time. Just a silent but rapid jiggle, jiggle jiggle…….

I love the new site. I have been trying to catch up with you today.

As for my pet peeve it is definitely tapping. I also can’t stand someone to stand over my shoulder. Funny because as a former public school teacher I did that all the time to my students. It drives me crazy when my daughters do it to me at my desk. :)

On a more somber note, I did not realize that you (your dh) had a reversal. I had a tubal and dh and I both have repented of our lack of submission and faith, but we don’t have the finances to reverse. We have prayed and asked God to heal me and bless us again. Each month it is so sad for me to see that my desire for another baby is not God’s will (at least for now.) Your post has made me wonder if I need to pray that God will speak to my husband about praying for a miracle to pay for this surgery. I am going to be 38 in November so I feel like my time is running out. Oh, how I wish I had not made a permanent step to stop my fertility!

Thank you so much for your ministry here and I pray for God to bless your family! In Him, Eva

Smacking lips while you eat and repeating the same few words from a song over and over again are my current annoyances.
