Did YOU Miss It?
My hubby has had a bit if a stressful week. There has been a lot to do at work and much of his work is emotionally stressful. He often ministers to people who are in spiritual, emotional, and/or physical crisis. This past week was one of those weeks. There was a couple who lost their child due to a heart defect at 22 weeks gestation. It was a difficult thing. No one came by to offer this family any support except for my husband. Everyone else seemed to busy or preoccupied to even notice what was going on in their life. Even through the pain and the loss, however, this family took time to bond with, name, photograph, and make impressions of the little girl’s feet. They took time to notice this creation. It seemed as if no one else stopped but they, even though in great pain, took time to soak in the goodness of the creation of the Lord.
Later that night at home as my hubby was busying himself working on the surround sound system we received a call. Now we have been busy for so long with so much to do. We are still trying to get our house in order and are beginning to grow weary in those efforts. It is a tiring ordeal to remodel and unpack at the same time. Not much else fills our viewfinder at the moment, we are focusing on accomplishing our task of being settled. Back to the phone call. It was about 10 pm and hubby was busy working away when the phone rang. It was a friend asking if we had noticed the Northern Lights.
It was a clear enough night that there was a small glimpse of them in the sky. Hubby quickly hung up the phone and got everyone out of bed and we headed out into the 15 degree weather. There was not a lot to see but a there was definitely a moving green glow to the skyline above the trees. It was beautiful and another reminder of our great creator! We were so busy with life that we had not even thought to look out at the beautiful night sky before heading to bed.
How often we miss things. How often we neglect to see the handiwork of God because we are to preoccupied with those things we deem important. How often? Would we be surprised at the answer to that? Take some time to be still and KNOW that He is God! Enjoy the beauty he has placed before us. Give him the honor and praise due his holy name! Let us make sure NOT to miss a thing!

Yes. We all need to stop and smell the roses – even when we are busy in our lives! This morning I was greeted by flowers from my hubby for an anniversary. Not a wedding anniversary, but an anniversary for a baby we lost through Ectopic Pregnancy 8 years ago. Of course, I cried when I realised that my man remembered our baby who is in Heaven. Now, I have these wonderful white roses to look at and smell all week long.

You are so right! We always need to stop and see the beautiful creation of our Father and cherish each special moment.
How sad that no one but your husband recognized the life that God created and returned to His care, as if their loss is less than someone who carried a baby full term and then lost him/her.
Thanks for the reminder to appreciate every moment.
Blessings,
Michelle

That’s what I love about Autumn. God paints such brilliant colors on the foliage that you cannot ignore them. The drive to and from work is just spectacular this time of year.
Have a wonderful week-end.

Thank you for the reminder! One of my favorite pastimes since moving to the country is sitting on my front porch just drinking in God’s creation. We all need to take more time to “Be still” and listen to His voice.
Just wanted to let you know that I have given you an award at my site. Stop by and read all about it!
Blessings,
Nancy

It’s also easy to look at your situation and think “man, I have it bad” but there are people that have it worse.
I was reminded of this again yesterday when I was told that my position has been eliminated, and yet the message in Bible class with the kids last night was “In everything, give thanks.”
God’s ways our not our ways, but they are perfect.

We had a favorite spot we’d drive to – up a top of a mtn in Eagle River – when the lights were really on display….what an experience to be up high, away from everything and have the lights dancing all around. I miss it. LOL
