Now What Is Up???

I HAD a treat for you all today. I was going to do a great Wordless Wednesday with photos from our ferry trip throught the inner passage. This internet service we have at the TLF (temporary living facility) on base is almost as bad as dial up and I have not been able to get one single photo to load onto blogger. It has been rather frustrating to say the least. The photos will have to wait a bit longer!

We have spent several days looking at houses. We went from excited to discouraged to extremely discouraged to slightly optomistic to total confusion and on and on. I never thought it would be this difficult! I find myself totally exhausted at the end of the day! I think we may have actually found one home that we can make work for us. We will still be a bit scrunched in there but when we see the limited homes available this one seems to be the best match. We have been in prayer over this and are beginning to move ahead. I am trying not to let myself get too excited because there are so many variables that come into play when looking to purchase a home. Please please be in prayer for us concerning this.

On another note….. our eldest is off today taking a practice GED test. We are hoping to get him to pass his GED and to begin college in January. We shall see what is in store. They do not have much of a dual credit/running start program here as they did in previous states that we have lived in. They do have one but we must register in the IDEA program and I am just not comfortable getting involved in a government funded homeschool program especially when HSLDA will not represent those enrolled since it is not considered “homeschool” because of the government ties. Anyway, the rest of our school year may be getting started late. We will have to find a home, move in, unpack, order curriculum, schedule and lesson plans finished before any real schooling can even begin. I do have a great new school organizer that I will share with you once I can load photos!

Oh, some EXCITING news! The other night we had a bear digging through the dumpster and leaving his um…mess..behind in the yard. The dumpster is only about 20 steps from our door! Unfortunately we were all asleep and missed the whole ordeal but it is still exciting to think of the wildlife being that close!

Well, we are off to look at closet organizers at Lowe’s today. That will be fun to share once we have a home to get it all set up and organized! I will share that in several months when all is said and done!

ONE LAST THING!

THANK YOU! For continuing to stop by here showing your encourement and support!

Have you looked into University of Alaska’s “Jump Start” Program ? Home-schooled kids are eligible, too, as far as I understand (even without being enrolled in IDEA). I took classes through this program when I was in high school. Classes can be taken at any of their small community college campuses, too, not just UAA.

Hope all your moving in goes well! :) My mom works at a store in Soldotna that orders homeschooling curriculum. Let me know if you want her info. That might save you on shipping costs.

Whenever we had bear sightings in our area, the neighbors would call around, and let families know to keep their little ones close by for awhile. We did enjoy eating homemade Bear Sausage, though! :)

    Blessings,
