Do You Need to DeClutter?
Do you need to declutter? This is something I struggle with but I have found an easy way to work on managing the amount of clutter in our home. What I attempt to do is to periodically grab 2 trash bags. One for goodwill and one for garbage. I go through the house and do not stop until both are filled. If I do this once a month, it helps me cut down on the clutter and the trash. This also helps to keep the youngins motivated to keep their things put away, after all Momma might throw it away. Sometimes I will give the children a bag and tell them they must fill it from their room before they can do anything else. It is a good way to declutter. If regular trash bags seem to overwhelming at first try smaller sized bags and fill them (Walmart bags work really well)!! That way when you move to a larger size bag you will be used to filling the bag rather than stopping short. Sometimes if I am on a roll, I keep going and end up with a couple bags worth! If you are on a roll don’t stop but make sure you do not stop before your one bag is finished.
Do you have any decluttering tips????

What a simply great idea! I was in fact just yesterday looking around here and feeling a bit overwhelmed with all of the “stuff”. I was wanting to do something about it, and now I have a plan to help that will also be manageable. Thank you!

Great idea. I keep a perpetual box opened and in the garage for thrift store items. LOL

Oh, you are blogging about something near and dear to my heart!
I keep a sturdy laundry basket in a closet, where I toss things that need to go to Goodwill or Consignment, then TAKE it once a month.
Also, before Christmas and birthdays I remind my boys of the “Equal Mass Law”… new things are coming in, and an equal (or greater!) mass must go out!
Even better, my boys are enthusiastic about asking for gifts that aren’t “stuff” in the first place… like a Zoo membership, swim lessons, or special events.
But like you, if they (we) can’t keep their stuff tidy… they (we) have too much stuff.

Great tips! I find, with small children, it’s hard to really take a big chunk of time to declutter, so I do it in 10-15 minute time “slots”. I usually set a timer, or just commit to doing a small task, like cleaning out a small bin or drawer.
