Homeschool Organization Show & Tell
For Show and Tell I thought I would share how I organize my teacher materials and resources. I have a specific place for things and they are easily accessible, not only to me but also to the children who will need them. This makes things flow pretty smoothly during school. I have two bookshelves located in the hallway about ten steps from where we have school. It is easy for me to pull things out and to replace them. I typically pull out everything I will need that day and replace it as I finish with it. This gives me a visible and tangible way to tell what I have accomplished and what is still left to be done. The children can go and get their resource books and replace them as needed. Below is a photo of our two bookshelves piled with 95% of our schooling curriculum. Even if it is not a grade we are utilizing this year, it is still on the shelves. Next week I will share how we organize the individual children’s books and supplies. If you click on the image it should open larger in another window if you want to see what is on those shelves.

Every homeschool mom needs good book cases and a place to put them! Very nice job.

I like your organized shelves. The way you described your system makes sense to me. I am a visual person who needs to “see” things too.
Blessings to you, Mama Karen

Believe me, you have my utmost admiration for taking on the challege of home school and making it work. Not everyone has the organizationa skill to pull it off. I am also glad that you have chosen to share your experience with others who are considering this method of education.
Still in my prayers.

OK, I’m dying to know if you use (or have used) everything on those neat and organized shelves… Or…do you have “curriculum” collections like me, where you buy it, try it, don’t really like it, but can’t bring yourself to throw (or give) it away because you MIGHT use it someday?

the ONLY thing we have not used is the art curriculum because we have run out of time during the day, I am thinking of using it in the summer though. I have forced myself to get rid of a lot of things because of space.

Looks very organized! One nice thing about moving every 2 yrs is the unused stuff gets sold or given away. Shelf-space is at a premium lol.
Thanks for stopping by my show and tell today

It was great to read your comment today and then find your blog because of it! You are blessed with 8 children. I grew up in the Air Force. I really like home organization. Disorder is not something I enjoy at all. Thank you for sharing!

It’s so nice to have our school stuff organized. I was finally able to get mine in a bookshelf this year – all together. So nice!
