One Night with the King

Last night we watched a movie that is becoming one of my favorites. “One Night with the King” tells the story of Esther. It gives a brief history lesson and tell of how Hadassah becomes Queen Esther and ultimately is used of God to save her people.

“One Night With The King” – The Call of Destiny – chronicles the life of the young Jewish girl, Hadassah, who goes on to become the Biblical Esther, the Queen of Persia, and saves the Jewish nation from annihilation at the hands of its arch enemy while winning the heart of the fiercely handsome King Xerxes. Here is a wonderful movie review. It is a Christian movie review and also details the story line. Here is how it begins…

Esther, Jewish queen of gentile Persia, set a remarkable example of personal sacrifice. Although understandably at first hesitant, she willingly risked her life so others could be saved. In this respect she prefigured the sacrifice of the coming Messiah, Jesus of Nazareth, who willingly gave His life so each of us could have the opportunity to receive God’s gift of salvation, eternal life in His Kingdom.

Last but not least, here is the movie trailer.

I have yet to see this movie – I’ve heard great things. I must put it on our movie night schedule. It’s so hard to find good movies these days. My brother does work for the Dove Foundation which produces good family movies with a Christian perspective… and we get movies from that list now and then. However, I need to see this one!!! Thanks for the reminder.

My husband & I saw this movie before we let our kids see it & we all loved it. In fact it is my 16yr. dd favorite movie to rent. Tenney also wrote a “Haddasah” version for younger girls. My 2nd daughter(15yr) read it when she was about 12 or 13 & has loved studying the life of Esther every since. She is right now reading Chuck Swindoll’s book on Esther.
