A Bigger Cross

A couple Sunday evenings ago, an illustration was used that I wanted to share with you today. The small cross is when we come by faith to believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ. The two lines represent two things that should happen as we grow in that relationship with the Lord. One line is our comprehension of the magnitude of the holiness of God. The other line is the knowledge of how sinful and depraved we truly are. The gap between our sinfulness and the holiness of God becomes more and more evident in our life and thus the cross that bridges that gap grows larger. The work accomplished on that cross is taken less and less lightly and our devotion to the One who redeemed us grows. My prayer and heart felt desire for my life is that, as I grow in grace before the Lord, the cross of Christ would be so large in my sight that everything is seen in smaller proportion to it. That the redemption I received will be the driving force in my life. Will I fail? Most definitely, but I continue to pray, seek godly wisdom, repent, and look to Jesus. The cross continues to grow and is more magnificent every day.

Thank you for sharing this- I think it sums up perfectly what so many of us have discovered in our journeys towards Christ. The more I’ve grown in my faith, the more awestruck I’ve become by His sacrifice on behalf of humanity.
