Introducing The QuiverFull Blogroll

The Quiverfull lifestyle is a movement among conservative evangelical Protestant Christians. Roman Catholics and some others might refer to the Quiverfull position as Providentialism. Those who hold this position do so not in an attempt to simply have large families but to leave in the hands of the Lord God Almighty His sovereignty and authority over the womb. The distinguishing viewpoint is to eagerly receive children as blessings from God, abandoning all forms of contraception, including natural family planning and sterilization. This blogroll is for those who are actively following the Lord in this lifestyle. If there has been a sterilization, those on this roll hold to the fact that there is something very significant about repenting not only in word but also deed – having actions of confession and repentance that places this physically not just spiritually back in the hand of God. Therefore to be included you must have followed through with a reversal. To be included on this role please follow the rules listed below.

  • Write a post discussing this Biblical teaching.
  • Leave a comment requesting to be added and a link to your blog/site and let me know so I can link to it.
  • Place the roll on your blog. I will email the code to you once you are confirmed, so make sure I can find your email.
  • Invite others you know who qualify to join. (optional)

DISCLAIMER: To join the roll you must be actively living this out in your life and walk with the Lord. The highlighted sentence above is a good place to evaluate if you hold to the same conviction this blogroll is to represent. This is my blogroll and therefore I & my husband are the sole decision makers concerning who is qualified to be a part of this role. This posting is not for discussion on what is or what is not considered QF; Therefore all contrary &/or dissenting remarks will be removed.

Sallie, I do not disagree that God can and sometimes does heal and bless, He is sovereign to do so. Before our reversal I prayed for another child diligently. I considered myself QF in heart & desire but not in practice. This roll represents our view and practice on the matter and I fully acknowledge that we disagree on this issue. It is hard to express so that others can understand without feeling like we are judging them, but I feel there is something very significant about repenting not only in word but also deed – having actions of confession and repentance that places this physically not just spiritually back in the hand of God. Because of that I truly do not think it will benefit either of us or this blog roll to re-hash things (old hurts) and have decided to limit this to individuals who have committed to the practice of abandoning all forms of contraception, including natural family planning and medical/elective sterilization. I will continue to pray that God will be glorified in this area of your life according to the good intentions of His will, and if that be a healing of your womb I will greatly rejoice with you.

Well we are defenatly a Quiver Full minded family. I would love to be added to your roll. I have to write something about that on my blog? ugh I am not good at that but will(reports are not my best subject) ha I leave that to my dear hubby when it has to do with writing for my kids. We currently have six wonderful blessings and are praying for more. My children keep asking for Christmas that I will tell them we are having an other. My youngest is nine months and I have never gotten pregnant before one of my children turn one, but God can do anything and if it is His will then I will get pregnant before my son turns a year old. Uh what was I suppose to do now?

I love this idea! Please add me :D It was discovering like minded families that inspired me to blog in the first place in hopes of connecting. That being said, I’m quite new to blogging. What exactly are you looking for in a post on the topic? I have addressed it but not in the sense of presenting the Biblical argument for the position and I was wondering if that is what you were wanting. Let me know!

  43. Alena Says:

Hi :) My name is Alena, and I just recently started reading homeschooling and large family information online. I was home schooled by my mother until the 7th grade, at which point, due to a catastrophic family event, I went to a Christian academy, and then on to 8th and 9th grade in the public school system. I returned to homeschooling for the last three years, but it wasn’t the same, and I ended up getting my GED without ever really finishing school. I have two years of college under my belt, and a Certificate of Biblical Studies from a one year Bible college. I am the oldest of five children, all of whom were also home schooled until 1998 as well, then attended public school as I did. Three of them are still in school, and starting this fall, the two youngest will resume homeschooling with our mother. The oldest of the three, my brother, is still in public high school, and plans to remain there until he graduates.

I realize this is a long post, and I hope you don’t mind. The reason I am writing to you is this: I have been married for just under a year, and up until this past Christmas, I had every intention of public schooling my future children, and of only having 2 or 3 children total. Then two things happened – first, my husband (raised in a strong Christian home and public schooled) asked me if I thought I might want to home school our children. It started me thinking, and I wound up reading Above Rubies. The second event was this – I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and hypothyroidism.

I used birth control pills last year from January to April, and then went off them, for multiple reasons. It really messed up my hormones, making me feel very strange and unhappy; we believe that I had an early miscarriage, and became very depressed; and we decided that we did not want to wait to have children, and that we wanted to leave our initiation into parenthood in God’s hands. At that time we were still looking at limiting our total number of children to three. After that, we had planned to have my husband get sterilized.

After diagnosing me with PCOS, my doctor prescribed birth control pills. She says they are for three things – first, to give my ovaries a chance to heal (I have multiple cysts that are very painful), to prevent pregnancy until I am healthier, and to help regulate my hormones so that the other symptoms will diminish.

The problem here is twofold for me – first, my period is three months late (I tested five weeks ago, and was not pregnant at that time. PCOS tends to cause late periods), so I can’t start the pills now anyway. Secondly, realizing that I may not be able to conceive (so far, ten months without contraception) really brought me up short regarding my expectations as a possible parent. I love children, and I know that I will love any and all that God blesses us with, but I have never seen myself as someone who could do a good job with more than two or three children of her own. Now I wonder if my fears are based less in reality, and more in my own experience of being in a larger family (five children). My birth father was not a good man, and was not at all supportive of my mother as a teacher, or of us as his children and students. She did EVERYTHING alone, and chaos reigned. Today, she is married to a good Christian man who loves her and my siblings, but he is also uninvolved when it comes to running the home, keeping order, and helping my mother with schooling and training of the remaining children. My husband is extremely good with children (he is actually looking to go into children’s ministry with his own father), and he is very supportive of me, and regardless of what type of schooling we choose, he will be very involved with our children.

The point is, I am beginning to feel that I do not want to do anything to prevent as many children as God will bless us with. Because of my illness, I may not be able to have ANY children, and this has made me realize just how selfish my hesitation has been! The problem here is that I do not know if my husband is in agreement with me or not. This is such a new thought on my part that I have not yet shared it with him. I believe that I need to follow my husband’s lead, so if he does not agree with me in this, I need to honor and obey him. But I do hope that he will feel the same!

Finally, I am confused as to how I should handle the medical aspect of this decision. My doctor (and all of the research I have done to date) indicate that birth control pills are the most effective and recommended means of treating PCOS. I am researching natural remedies, but have not found a good substitute yet. Can you tell me your opinion on this, please? I feel very confused and alone right now. I want to do the right thing and honor God, but I am not sure yet what that is. I have never really looked at this from a Biblical perspective, as I was not aware until recently that there was even an issue. I have been very careful not to use pills that are abortive, but ones that prevent ovulation instead, but that is really the extent of what I have thought of until recently.

My email address is bellequefamily@hotmail.com. I am really sorry this is so long…

    Hi
I would like to be added to your blogroll. My name is Emma and I have 4 children and I am adopting 2children from Haiti and my DH and I are a QF family. I read A Quiver Full after I had my first daughter and the message really hit our heart. However after I had my 4th pregnancy after a difficult delivery we decided to go on the pill. After we found out about the abortificent nature of the pill, we came back to our original convictions to trust God with our fertilitly even though we are in the process of adopting.

  83. "Children are a heritage of the Lord" Says:

I would love to be added. My husband recently had a vasectomy reversal after hearing a sermon from out pastor on Psalm 127. I have had a heavy heart since his vasectomy back in June 2007. I knew right after this was not the ways of the Lord, that he wanted to control our fertility and we needed to repent and make it right with God. My husband after 4wks post op decided that if we had more, then we had more and he was not going to have an SA (Sperm Analysis)done. I was floored as he was very sure he wanted the vasectomy,me I was unsure but did not say what I truly felt in my heart,I guess afraid he say has he had said when I told him he could back out. he said “no,we don’t need anymore children. Soon after that vasectomy 6months later to be exact,God started changing his heart, like I had prayed. Soon, later he would come home and say I want the reversal done,it was wrong and I need to make it right. God tells us in Psalm 127, that “Children are a heritage of the Lord” These little babies we bring into this world are for his kingdom, are his precious prizes for him. We are to keep our fertility in his hands.
I have had a heavy heart these last few days,as I have had yet another unsuccesful month at concieving.

My wife and I would like to be included in your blogroll. Each of us has our on blog. Mine is http://www.clanandcovenant.blogspot.com. Her is http://www.thelindsayclan.blogspot.com.

We are parents of five children, three boys and two girls agas 20 months to 11 years. We have been convicted about trusting God with our family size/planning since early in our marriage; however, we just stumbled upon the quiverfull community in February of this year. We have learned much and have been encouraged from the QF site and other QF blogs. It’s really a blessing to us to know that there are other like-minded believers out there, though we no of none here in our own community.

Thanks for your consideration in adding us.

    My personal email is rllindsay@juno.com.
