A Moving Moment
While I was reading the Bible to my preschoolers the other day the Lord really spoke to my heart. It was not any great new revelation but just a quickening reminder of the great love, grace, and mercy my Lord has had upon me to choose me as His own. I was reading the story of the birth of Christ. More specifically, the pronouncement from the angels to the shepherds that Christ had been born. A host of heavenly beings proclaiming the birth of my Lord and Savior Jesus.
Luke 2:8-14 And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with fear. And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”
During this my oldest daughter began practicing the piano. What does she begin to play? The tune coming from the piano was, “There is Power in the Blood.” It was moving to be reminded that Christ came simply to die. The angels were declaring His arrival and I was listening to the reason, to shed His blood for the many who would believe, those whom the Father had given Him. He came with my redemption as His purpose. What amazing grace indeed!

What a great story! When I took my baby to the doctors the other day, my youngest asked if he could take the shot for her because he didn’t want to see her cry. It touched my heart, but it also gave me a great way to share Christ and how he took our sin/pain on the cross so we wouldn’t have to. Children are so dear… I love the piano. I love to hear praise songs in my home.
Have a great weekend.
